Edius 5 low RAM usage

Edius 5 takes too little RAM on my machine. On my typical editing session, Task Manager claims it takes just around 50-100 megs (yes, you read it right) of my 3 GBs. Editing is pretty smooth, but there is some disk thrashing, reloading thumbnails in bins etc. I just want to give it the most memory I can.

Anyone here have any tips on how to make programs take MORE (not less) memory? Thanks!

Windows XP SP3, iMac 20" via Bootcamp - ntel Core 2 Duo 2,16 GHz, 3 Gigs of RAM, ATI X1600 128 MB. Footage is on external FW 400 Drive.
