Transition Question

sorry to bother with such elemental questions, I gave up searching the manual.

At some cut points there is a grey right triangle at the top left of the transition and the bottom right of the cut.

If there is only one grey triagle I can add a transition, if there are two it will not let me add a transition.

I messed with mode to no avail, was wondering what that is about??

Dale,
Whenever you see those gray triangles, it means you're at the beginning or end of your footage. You can't insert a transition between these because there is no footage to overlap. However, you can still force a transition between them by changing this in Edius:
Settings/Application Settings/Timeline, uncheck "Extend clips when applying transition or crossfade."

Tada!

Warren,

Tada, Thank you!!!

After just a month on edius, must say I find it really outstanding.

Editing in edius with my shuutle pro is the most proficient/eficient editing I have ever had!!

Now just to learn all the nuances!!

I also love Edius! Once you're up to speed and get the kinks out of your system, I think you'll find Edius to be one of the fastest editors on the planet.

Be careful of unticking "extend clips" if you're editing layers on your timeline. Doing so will force that clip to nudge back and throw that layer out of sync by half a second. If you're editing just one layer, then you're fine. My personal preference is to leave "extend clips" ticked since I always edit with multiple tracks.
