AbelCine is now offering workshops focused on different camera technology. We have classes happening in all three of our offices: New York, Chicago, and LA.

In an effort to support the DVInfo community, we are now offering members discounted pricing on these workshops. Here is quick list of what we have coming up soon:

Video Formats & Workflow

This three-hour course gives an overview of the many different HD video formats and their associated workflows. The course is designed to give shooters, producers, and editors a better understanding of the video formats available today and how they compare with each other. Topics include broadcast standards, frame rates, compression, color space and recording media. Formats covered include Sony XDCAM, Panasonic P2, ARRI ALEXA, RED RAW, Canon HDSLR, Canon XF, AVCHD and HDV.

Sony PMW-F3 Two-Day Workshop

Sony’s PMW-F3 camera is pushing the envelope of HD production with its newly designed Super-35mm size sensor and high quality output. This two-day workshop covers the many functions of the PMW-F3 including detailed instruction on camera operation, lens choice, production techniques, and aftermarket accessories. Emphasis is on developing an understanding of the camera sensor, recording format, lens choice, and menu systems.

ARRI ALEXA Workshops

The ARRI ALEXA camera has taken the television and feature film world by storm, and advanced digital filmmaking to a new level. AbelCine has been working closely with ARRI on both selling and supporting the ALEXA. As part of this effort, we have put together two ALEXA Workshops. The ALEXA Workshops will be led by AbelCine’s experts, who will also be joined by experts from Codex Digital, Assimilate, and IRIDAS. The ALEXA Camera Workshop is focused on camera operation and shooting practices, while the ALEXA Workflow Workshop is focused on workflow and post production. The two days are designed to work in conjunction, but each ALEXA Workshop can be attended individually.

Intro to the Panasonic AF100

Introduction to the Panasonic AF100 is a half-day course designed for anyone new to Panasonic professional cameras. The course will familiarize participants with camera operation and basic workflow. Particular emphasis is placed on sensor size, lens choice, and camera menus. The class is well-suited for anyone new to the AF100. Class space is limited, so make sure to sign up early. Sony FS100 Two-Day Workshop

The FS100 Two-Day Workshop is designed to be a hands-on class covering the various functions of Sony’s newest Super-35 camera. You will gain a detailed understanding of the many features of the FS100, including the menu system, camera operation, lens options, post-production workflow, and available accessories. Emphasis is on developing an understanding of the camera sensor, recording format, lens choice, and menu systems.
