Ikonoskop A-cam IIK

Missed this at NAB as I had to depart early. Did anybody else stop by their booth in the back part of Central Hall? Not much info on their site yet, but so far:

- 2K RAW
- super compact size
- 80GB solid state cart

Great -- much appreciated. Thanks Brian,

Seems it's still in development, so the final camera could look different.

How many minutes of 2K RAW could you store on a 80gb drive?

According to someone on REDUser who asked at their NAB stand they're currently recording uncompressed, so that would be around 12 minutes. A bit less than the Scarlet's Redcode onto the CF.

12 minutes is OK for anyone used to shooting film, but you'd need a set of memory drives. Perhaps uncompressed does have the advantage that you can decide on your own compression when downloading onto a laptop or whatever. I expect not doing it in camera keeps the camera size and power demands down.

Certainly recording uncompressed is not unusual on the high end cameras, if somewhat demanding in recording the data.

It sure would be nice if you could switch it between uncompressed and, say, a Cineform compression scheme.

If this could do an hour or more per drive/cartridge, I'd be very interested.

Ikonoscop is trouble

Be careful dealing with these characters. I've had nothing but problems trying to sort out problems with an A cam I have and it goes to the actual business practices of the outfit. I spoke to them at NAB about the issues and they assured me they'd attend to them and now won't even respond to emails.

Ikonoscop good guys.

I have to retract my previous post as the guys have come through for me fabulously fixing my camera and returning it in pristine condition.
