score composing gun for hire

though I am now involved with scoring a feature film I will be free to pursue other projects when we have put this one to bed (it's a goodie).

So if you have something interesting and or well paying and need a score composer who will take direction or just fly at it then give me a call - David Priestley

I am also working on a new emotion evocation technoligy, pschyo-acoustic technoligy, we take the pschyo active active parts from one sound i.e. gun shot effect and insert it into the sound of a kiss, the kiss by the way still sounds like a kiss but boy will it make you jump! It's The Lucy Sound Cloak-it delivers emotional states cloaked in the score.
PS I'm also a card carrying member of the press and do PR & press work too
catch me at harp_man@mac.com

looking for a Shooter/laborer for 2/10 in allentown PA

Hey all,

To emulate a craigslist ad should be like....though it may still have the spelling mistakes....

I'm looking for an assistant who can operate an XL1s and doesn't mind carrying in some lights, monitors, and gator cases.

Need one afternoon (1/2 day) of your time on this friday 2/10 in the Lehigh Valley Area. This is a relatively simple shoot for the local branch of the unemployment office, final product will be a flash based virtual tour of their services offered to the public.

I have all the equipment needed for the shoot, so you don't have to have/bring any unless you really want to.

Looking for some experience as you will be the primary camera operator....

best yet....

in addition to having footage for your reel, IT IS A PAID JOB! I'll negoitate with you based upon your experience....

contact me for more details at via e-mail mike at mrproductions.org or on my cell - 610-442-3442

Thanks
~Mike

Make a film in a month. Take the challenge.

They say it can't be done. But we are about to dispell that myth. Who says you need tons of $$$ and an exuberant amount of time to do a quality film?
That is the purpose of this challenge to accomplish the impossible. I have participated in previous 48 hour film competions and I am quite amazed of what can be accomplished in 48 hour. Imagine the results in a month! I extend this invitation for any filmmakers, looking to build or add to their reel or anyone looking for a challanging venture. I have a couple of cool ideas that will make very viable, YES marketable films. After completion there are a couple of interested distributors I will submit this film to. So in other words it will not be sitting on a shelf collecting dust. The opportunities will be endless (One of which is a major SF FANTASY/HORROR convention June 2-4 in Meadowlands NJ. This is the largest on the east coast and there are plenty of opportunties for networking connections. For more info go www.chillertheatre.com. ) Not to mention the unforgetable experience and not to mention the lasting relationships. I am looking to start in March so the first thing is to set up a meeting of anyone interested. Please e-mail at first and I will provide info as to the date and time. Please note if you will unavailable for the first meeting. There will be at least 1-2 more scheduled so don't think for a second that you will be missing out. We are all achieving for success. Let's achieve together. (manta90210@yahoo.com)

i wonder if there are xl1-s owners in the bay area, who would be interesstet to meet, lets say ones a month, every other month or so, and form some kind of owners club.

topics could be around the xl1-s, projects, exquirence exchange etc.

i am in the east bay, and would plan, and set up the first meet, let's say in the concord area.

LA or EUROPE *UK-FRANCE-GERMANY*

Which of the following geographic areas would be best to start off as a Production Assistant on a set?

LA (Hollywood)
UK (London)
FR (Paris - Cannes - Nice)
DE (Berlin - Munich)

I can't wait to read your comments.
Thank you,
Joey :>~

Rob Lohman February 13th, 2006 01:29 AM

I think "best" depends on where you want to end up (in the world). Since you
are in Europe (like myself) it's probably easier to start here. All the countries
you mention are fairly active in film (opposed to where I live).

Since you are a member of the EU you can freely move to Germany & France
and get a job there (if you can find any and get hired). Of course langauge
might be a problem if you don't speak / read / write good German / French.

Moving and working in the US is a whole different story. I've been looking into
that for the last 3 years and it ain't easy. You can't just go there and get a
job and live there. You are not allowed to.

Basically the only ways to be allowed to work in the US is:

1) (American) family

2) get a company to hire you and get you a work visa (unless your job is in much need or you have extraordinary skills I wouldn't count on that)

3) marry an American

4) buy a company (lots of $$$)

That's basically it. There is also a greencard lottery, however that isn't open
to people with the UK nationality at this moment. Too much britts go to the US
already. Could be there is some other path if you have the Brittish nationality,
that I would not know.

It's always good if you have previous working experience when going to another
country to find a job. So perhaps it would be wise to try and do some work
in the UK first?

Mathieu Ghekiere February 13th, 2006 03:13 AM

Rob, can't you just marry an American?

Seriously, I didn't know it was so hard...
If I may ask, Rob, how are you planning to go there in that case?

Joey Dee February 13th, 2006 06:03 AM

Rob,

I have dual citizenship to Canada - USA, I am in the UK now on holidays... The reason why I left Ottawa, Canada "where I live and study Film Theory" was to experience how life would be in London, UK

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! London is AMAZING :)

I am educated in French language - therefor speaking french would be no problem for me.

To be honest i dislike Hollywood for its fake sassy, glamour and Celeb image...

I do have family in LA so it wouldn't be hard for me to survive there, however I guess what I wanted is everyone's personal opinion on this topic to give me a better idea as well as to find out more about UK/FR/DE if it would be hard to find work relating to cinema, something simple as a Production Assistant... I have allready research on a VISA to work within EU and it is possible to me to do so.

Mathieu: Since you are from Belgium I wanted to show you a little clip that I found extremely well DONE. Its a message from Systembolaget in Sweeden to the EU relating Alchool Related Problems.

Joey :>~

Mathieu Ghekiere February 13th, 2006 07:22 AM

Hello Joe,

It's a really well made film, I love it how it combines all kinds of film styles:
animation, MTV clip, old black and white film, polaroid -like photographs,...

And I agree with the message, the harm that alcohol causes is many times overlooked.

Dave Ferdinand February 13th, 2006 12:53 PM

Hey Cody, you're thinking of getting the HD100U and H1 as well?

Rob Lohman February 13th, 2006 04:32 PM

Joey: you seem to have some good entries, family in LA, able to get a work
VISA in the EU and speak French. I say put that all to good use!

Mathieu: good to see you around! I'm trying option "#5", the greencard lottery
(the Dutch [and Belgiums] are eligable). And who knows what women I might
meet on my holiday travels to the US :)

If all that fails I guess I'll just have to either make a killer movie or write some
killer piece of software. We'll see what happens!

p.s. and yeah, London is pretty amazing. Had the fortune of visiting a couple of times

Cody Mielke February 13th, 2006 04:47 PM

XL-h1 owners in Atlanta

yo, my friends need an xl-h1 to some digitizing off of for a couple of days in atlanta, and rather then paying me to ship my camera out I figure why not just rent it from one of my atlanta bretheren. e-mail me or respond to this thread if you can help out. Sorry, all of the footage was shot in 24F so it has to be an xl-h1.

Please respond to this thread with a price and your location. Westside a plus.

HONEY! I suggest to put a spoon with honey in front of the lens. The magnifying factor of the lens will show them an unbeliavable amount of honey so they have to run out everybody to check if it is true. Then grab your camera! Don't let them in again with dirty feet! /Johan

Stephen Finton February 21st, 2006 10:30 AM

Buy a sticky tray and place your camera in the middle of it for a week. When the ants come out to forage or get some dirt to take back into their swanky new abode, they will get stuck.

I had a rat in my car once, after getting it back from a repair shop. Apparently they had rats in their shop and had left my car open. When they gave it to me, I started noticing visible chew marks near the windows, where it was trying to get out. It even built a nest out of shredded paper towel in the ventillation systems. I know this because the inside of the car was filled with confetti and rat droppings when I turned on the AC.

It was special.

Finally got it out by leaving the windows rolled down.

Someone with XL1-2-S in Jacksonville, FL?

I'm doing a shoot in Jacksonville and am looking for a second (backup) camera for March 3rd and 4th. It will be a hellicopter lifting up large signs to the top of a 28 story building. Pay is only $100 a day but it should be a low pressure gig.

Score my movie?

Hi everyone,

I'll get straight to it. I am looking for somone to score a short film for free. I am a student completing my final year in college and this is my final and only production for asessment this year. I have made a number of films which have won a number of awards. I am soon to embark on shooting the film (currently in pre-production) and so am trying to figure out what I can get before I get to post. The film is a suspenceful thriller, or thereabouts.

Basically I am looking for three pieces or cues of music. Total length of all three tracks from 5 - 8 minutes. The film is guaranteed to be released on a DVD, although neither I or any of the production crew will actually get paid for it. However it will be disctibuted and screened, so exposure is guaranteed. I also plan to enter film festivals.

If anyone is interested, please do not hesitate to contact me at amazinglex@gmail.com. I have the script ready and will send it to potential composers.

Best regards,
Alex Mizin

Andrew Khalil February 22nd, 2006 12:20 PM

I actually had a similar experience when I took my ZR-45 on vacation - there were ants in the viewfinder and it was really irritating. At first it was scary - the viewfinder lens magnifies them a lot and they looked like monsters lol. I actually opened up the viewfinder and blew them out, but I don't know if that's a good idea with a lens unless you know what you're doing.
