GoFlex317 HD Laptop
 

I've been searching for the most powerful Laptop available. I came across the GoFlex317...

This Laptop seems like a beast (and costs about as much too!). Anybody using this or any other similar Laptop? Any buzz on other more powerful Laptops that will be available anytime soon? I'm thinking about puting together an Edius Laptop system.

I have seen the emergence of a couple of quad core laptops recently, I believe that they will start to penetrate the market at one point this year. I dont have a mobile editing solution as yet, so I'm following this closely. I've been looking at:

and www.macrumors.com

Specs look interesting, I'd be curious to find out how hot that puppy runs after a few hours at full tilt, with a couple o'7200's in. Allthough I'm wondering if a cheaper alternative can be found with say a G Tech 7200 plugged into an 800 FW port? At that price you've got to be very committed to mobile editing.
I'd say stay in there and give it a while to see what else comes out, and competition always brings the price down.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with your comment about being committed to mobile editing. I believe the GoFlex317 weighs almost 12 pounds which is heavy for a Laptop. I spent a while considering a mac book pro but in terms of speed (as compared to and Edius system) it just doesn't keep up. The reason why I want the most powerful Laptop is I can't wait for rendering. My two "older" Canopus systems are several years old and are realtime (although they are SD). It's hard to go backwards even though I know editing EX-1 footage will require a significant power increase. I have spent time on both macrumors and engadget but will use your link for theregister.com to see what else is available.
