Matrox G550 video card - good for HDV editing?

Hi. The video card I have installed in my PC is a Matrox Milenium G550 32mb dual monitor card. I was told once that you don't really need a powerful video card to edit video, unless you'll be doing 3D stuff.
I've been editing DV video projects with my Matrox card - no problems. I am about to upgrade my computer with intentions of editing HDV on one of the popular software based NLE progams... probably Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. I will also be using After Effects. My work usually includes several layers of effects and chromakeying. My question is if I should stick with my current video card, or should this component be upgraded as well in order to deal with the high demand of HDV?

I will not be doing any 3D work and no gaming.

Looking forward to your replies.... thx.
