Correcting an unsteady camera
 

Hi folks,

I'm editing a short film shot on HD. During one shoot, the tripod was not working (brought the wrong adapter) so I tried to shoot with the camera just resting on the top of the tripod. Well, my hand isn't as steady as I thought, because there's too much camera motion.

So I think there must be some kind of software that can correct small amounts of camera motion and make it steady, but I can't find anything. Anyone know what kind of software can do this?

Hi Robert, what you should look into is this software plugin called proDAD. It has excellent stabilizing but it does zoom in on the frame depending on the amount of camera movement. It also takes some getting used to so don't get frustrated with it too soon, and keep at it until you get the perfect result. I've also used this plugin for simulating steadycam / glidecam shots and it works like a charm :) oh, and it works both with Sony Vegas Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro. I also believe that the makers of magic bullet also have something out but i've never seen used it myself or even seen its results. Anyone know of any other software or plugin?

If your posthouse has after effects, then there is a feature in there to stabilize footage. I use it all the time when shooting land from a boat etc.

I think AE stabilizer wuld work as a charm 2......
It's a good deal in this kind of situations!The bad thing is the digital zoom that would crop part of the videos.....

Is there anything like that for Premiere?
