importing to FCP or Premiere

I recently did a shoot with a guy who uses an Sony EX1 & FCP (I use Canon A1 & CS3) - is there a way I can dump the contents of a tape onto hard drive for him to use and vice versa

I don't want to tie up time carting the camera from one place to another and sitting around for hours waiting. I'd rather just give him a USB drive and get it back later

I suspect there's a simple answer but I can't seem to find anything
