Firewire Slot cards

has anyone used one of the firewire cards such as this


ADS Technologies Computers - Dual Link Combo for Notebooks USB 2.0/1394 Firewire - DLX181

to capture footage onto a laptop ?

I haven't used that particular one but I have two different brands of PCMCIA IEEE-1394 interfaces and they work flawlessly (under WinXP, at least). One is an ADS model which has a dongle so you can put two cards in at the same time. The other is an Adaptec which, like the one you linked to, is limited to one at a time.
