Save The Cheerleader...Save The World...

...of HD footage you captured. (LOL.) Honestly though, is it possible for someone to be able to save uncompressed HD footage, in file format, on a standard DVD? Ugh, I'm so frustrated with HD that I could just pull out all of my hair (at least what's left of it) and slap the guy that created it!!! (Slap him with sarcasm that is...I'm a lover not a fighter, heh heh.)

Anyway, all seriousness aside, can anyone tell me if it is possible to save my MPEG-2 uncompressed HD files on a standard DVD? I'm not such a novice to think that this notion is not ludicrous (uncompressed HD on a DVD, LOL) but I'm only looking to save about a minute of HD footage on this DVD, and in file format so as not being required to play back in say a Blu-Ray Disc player or something.

Any help would be greatly appreciated folks. Thanks so much (in advance) and keep shooting for the stars!!!

DVD's can stored data as well as being authored for playback in DVD players. You can save any file to them as long as you realize you are stuck to the 4.5 limit for a standard DVD. Should be very easy to create with any operating system with a dvd burner attached. Mac its as easy as drag drop click.

As long as the file will fit on the disc there will be no problem. You could go to 8.5G on a DL disc. In this form of course it is of little use other than to another computer. A PS3 may play a file on a data disc if it is DV, HDV ,AVCHD etc but to play HD on a set top player you will need to author a disc and will need a Bluray player for playback. It is possible to put AVCHD or MPEG2 in HD format on a DVD disc and playback ina Bluray player for short programs.
