JVC capture software, creates too many m2t files

I figured I'd better ask the question here.

I can't get capture utility works properly. It forced splits clips by scenes, one capture ends up have 10s of m2t files. Anyone know any solution? Settings?

No solution. This is a standard feature when time code changes, files will be spilt.

The CineForm HDLink capture tool gives the user the option not to split the incoming data, however this is not typically the best setting. Problem is that the MPEG data at the scene boundaries is corrupt, so the scene detection algorithms for HDLink and the KDDI software are simply discarding the bad frames that occur with MPEG in-camera edits.

I don't think time code is changed. Just pause/record, the time code should be continue according to the user manual. Any way, I'd try orther options. Will try HDLink. Is it freeware of is there a demo download?

David Newman May 19th, 2004 05:49 PM

Using Pause/Record is enough to break the MPEG2-TS stream so that adjoining frames between takes are now invalid. This is the nature of short/long-GOP MPEG, is in not frame accurate.

HDLink is part of the commercial products from CineForm: Connect HD and Aspect HD. If you have Premiere Pro you can download the try-out version of Aspect HD from cineform.com.

I think I got it. Saving as a big file is really not a good idea. It's fine I can liv with multiple files.

The JVC software is very basic, and I hear the full version is a few grand!

You may want to look into the CineForm software options.
