visual noise when using component output?

anybody getting noise when transfering out from component output?

Hi - this isn't an answer, sorry, just a question in return (having read this post and also "frame rate mystery").

What are you exporting to, via the component output? Would it be an alternative possibility for you to output digitally via firewire to an NLE, and then out from there via a component output card? That might give you some addition options to play with.

I am importing digitally via firewire to an NLE, cutting, and then exporting edited work back to Mini DV with virtually 100% picture quality preserved.

It's at that point I wish to go from the cam's component output to a 35mm transfer system with a component input. Just wondering if users of HD1/HD10/PD1 (I use the PD1) have experienced any noise at the latter component-out analog stage.

If so, a component output card from the computer might be an idea.

Be sure to check out the thread I started a couple weeks ago called "chroma noise in the final analysis." It might be relevant here.
