M2T to Streamclip to DV Film Maker?

Anyone help out with a good workflow from the downloaded m2t's on Vasst HDV Portal? I've followed the instructions on DV Film's website as closely as I can, but there's a crucial step missing there, because they assume you're getting your files from the camera. I don't have Lumiere HD (can't find a demo either) so I've been using MPEG Streamclip. Problem is, I don't know what kind of file to output here. I've tried "Demux to unscaled m2v and aiff", "Demux to m2v" and "Export to Quicktime" with varying lack of success following the rest of their instructions. I always get a clip that wants to render, or a really tiny clip inside a big black box in the viewer.

Once I get the right settings in Streamclip (hopefully someone will know those), what next? When using Film Maker, do you need to click "User chooses compression" and then choose the Apple Intermediate Codec?

Feeling lost and needing to decide on whether to go with the Sony camera...

Thanks,
Arne
