hd monitoring of HDV

using sony zu-1, dual G5, FCP

1. can't afford a real pro hd reference monitor. even used I could buy a car.

2. have to see the image on an hd television.

here's the question, whe I'm buying a tv (can't even afford a 23" apple cinema display) when I see a digital conection on the monitor (DVI) , does that infer that it will truly see and process the signal digitally, or is there something else in the specifications that I should be looking for.

Do I have a hope of colour correcting properly with this type of setup?
