Re: raid 0 problems
Second time this has happened?
Perhaps RAID 0 is not for you after all? Continuing again with that same approach and expecting a different outcome pretty much fits the formula for insanity. You don't really want to do that. Try RAID 5 instead and you will only have to swap out the physically defective drive when something goes wrong. Andrew |
Re: raid 0 problems
I think in another thread you said you were using a WD Caviar Black for your raid. There have been many many threads about why you should never ever do this. They are apparently not suitable for RAID. Also, you should never use RAID 0 for anything important for just the reason you have experienced -- if one disk goes you lose the whole drive. Don't do this.
If your project file is uncorrupted your edits should be fine. Normally you wouldn't want this on your C drive but in this case it seems to have helped you. |
Re: raid 0 problems

Re: raid 0 problems
If you are short on budget you can edit off regular hard drives, but ensure that they are physically separate hard drives to the one that your operating system is on (ie the boot drive).
If you can, spend a little more money on something like a Stardom SR4. For $329USD and four drives that you supply and install yourself, you can have a very decent Raid 5 storage system. Andrew |

Maybe this will help. Notice that with only three disks, raid0 is not suggested and especially not for the boot disk. For the boot disk only use either a single disk, a mirrored array or a parity array.
