edit using rushes on an iSCSI storage array.

Double posting here due to no results in Vegas thread..(sorry Moderator)

Does anyone have any experience in editing material on a timeline that's located on an iSCSI configured external storage array? Is it quick enough? stable on a timeline?

I'm considering combining all our archive and live edit projects onto a single expandable array. To start with 2 of the drives on the array will be configured RAID0 for live editing, two for back up/ and the rest RAID5 for archive.

thanks in advance.

Re: edit using rushes on an iSCSI storage array.

I use iscsi in an Ubuntu kvm /Windows virtualized environment. It works great. Since iscsi is not a network file sharing protocol, the iscsi target can only be mounted by one client at time. The Blackmagic Disk speed test shows that there is very little I/O performance lost in my virtualized setup. However if the iscsi disk array was accessed across a network then the network speed will be a limiting factor.
