After the HD delivery...

Completed a project. What else do you guys do after your project is "delivered". I have it in my hard drive both SD and HDV and I also printed back to HDV tape. What's left to do....blu ray?? In other words.... have I done enough to preserved these moments??

Hi Fred,

You can print out an edl of the file as well as save your program file. You can discard yur footage because you have your raw unedited footage on your master tape and if you lose your HDV or SD to tape completed versions, the edl or the program file is all that is needed to reconstruct the job. Unless you have altered the master footage with color correction or effects, they would have to be redone unless you save those in your program files.

What editing system did you cut with? You might want to create a reduced size version of your projects with only the portion of the media files that you used with reasonable handles and then archive that on DVD-R or Blu-Ray disks. In Final Cut Pro you'd use the Media Manager for this. Other editing systems have similar capabilities. And as Jeff Mack suggests, include an EDL of the project. This way, in the event you want to do a recut in the future, you have the essential media to work with, without having to recapture from tape. This is especially valuable if you have lots of media that was not captured from tape.
