QUADRO FX 560 - support for 2 or 3 screens??
 

Sorry to ask a (seemingly) obvious question, but the various posts here and elsewhere are ambiguous.

The Quadro FX 560 has two DVI outputs plus a high-definition component output.

Can all three be used simultaneously (kinda like a Parhelia)? Or does the user have to choose between using EITHER the second DVI OR the component output (like the Nvida gamer cards)?

I have the Quadro FX 560 card.

Here is what I did to get twin screens and TV out.
First port on the card drives my first LCD screen
Second port on the card is Svideo out to my TV but it can be componate or DVI or VGA out, you have a choice.

To get the second screen going I just used the 128meg onboard graphics port thats on my computers motherboard itself.

Works a treat and even feeds out to the TV on importing.

I already have an Nvida 6600GT which supports HD break-out, Purevideo acceleration, etc so I see no compelling reason to upgrade to the Quadro ... for some reason I had got the impression people had gotten excited about it because it supported 3-screens.

Just wondering if the HD out is as good as something like an Edius NX card. In other words, is the output interlaced or deinterlaced? I have a 7600 GS that works reasonably well but I just wanted to see if there were better options out there. Thanks a bunch.

Hi Chris,

The Nvidia control panel lets you specify output in the following formats:

PAL (various flavors), NTSC, 480p, 576p, 720p, and 1080i

I'm feeding into a 19" LCD HDTV that autodetects the input signal, and the TV is confirming that it is genuinely receiving what the card says its sending.

Have you tried Nvidia's Purevideo software acceleration codec stuff (not sure how you are supposed to describe it)? That has made a big difference for me quality-wise, and dropped my CPU load playing HDV transport streams from 80% to 20% on an AMD 4200X2 system.

Yes it looks like it can put it up to 1080i. In the setting set up now as Svideo out it says that the port is outputting 1024/768. I need to get a HDTV now.

Nvidia's Purevideo, just tried it out. Before playing m2t files in different players the CPU was at 25 - 30%

Now in WindowsMedia Player the CPU is like 10% when playing m2t files.

Did no performace boost to my NLE though.
