Laptops for XH A1 editing?

Anyone have some suggestions for a good Laptop for editing HDV A1 and beyond? I have a plethora of Laptops now all Sony Vaios. Single chip's from last year. I also have G5 Mac for studio work. I have Vegas 7 but have not really gotten into it yet. What might I need?

I use a Macbook Pro 2.1GHz 2Gig of Ram (first edition) and it works great. Although the video renders at less than real time when using an external FW drive.

This topic is more of an editing question that it is a camera question. So I've moved it from Canon XH to HD / HDV Editing Solutions.

Do you feel the Mac is robust enough to handle the data of HD?
