Capturing XL-H1 into FCP at DVinfo.net

Hey all.

I have a project which was shot on HDV with the Canon XL-H1 and I'm looking to import into FCP Studio. The traditional log n' capture settings won't do anything when plugging the camera into the computer. Only the Apple Intermediate Codec setting works, but it throws off the sound.

Since the camera is giving me problems, would and HDV deck work better? I have a regular Sony DVCam deck, but am afraid that might downgrade the quality somewhat.
