Looks great. I never thought about mounting a kick stand on the front of mine. Sure beats using an apple box.

Sergiu,

Great job! You have me wanting to build a completely new jib. :-)

What are the dimensions (length, width and thicknesses) of the square tube that you used?
Is it all aluminum tube, alternatively a mix of Aluminum and steel tube?

I like the double square tube arrangement on the pivot section.
Had you thought of using a rectangular section there?
If so, why did you go with two square tubes?

Bill

Sergiu Pavel May 28th, 2007 05:09 PM

The dimensions for square tubes are :
60x60x4
50x50x4
40x40x4

All tubes are from aluminium . Others parts like "U" from the pivot point or camera plate are from steel for a strong durability

I used 2 square tubes instead of 1 rectangular becouse boom arm and counterweight arm are slideing in thoses 2 60x60x4 tubes for a minimum lenght when the crane is transported .

Sergiu,

Thank you, I am putting together a shopping list now. ;-)

What were the lengths of the tubes I'm guessing around a meter and a half?

Bill

Sergiu Pavel May 28th, 2007 05:51 PM

Dont forget the beer in your shopping list :)

If you have other question I'm glad answering you !

Bill Hamell May 28th, 2007 06:41 PM

No beer ;-( I'm a rummy! :-) gotta have my Myers

What were the lengths of the tubes I'm guessing around a meter and a half?

Nice man! liking the look of this! :)

Sergiu Pavel May 29th, 2007 02:26 AM

Correct. The lengths of the bars are :
1500 mm for the 60x60x4 bar
1550 mm for the 50x50x4 bar
1600 mm for the 40x40x4 bar

The extra length between bars is for safety reasons where the bars are united .

Damn, I have a good eye and it works in inch and metric!! LOL

Thank agin for your help.

Sergiu,

Nice bit of work. I checked out your site and it is pretty impressive and I like what you can do with it!!

I was wondering, what the bill for the materials and motor would come to when you are finished??

After seeing this i might cancel my boat building project for awhile to build a crane like this!!

Sean Seah June 26th, 2007 07:04 AM

oops.. I think its banned in China somehow. I will have to wait till I get home then. Cant wait to see the good work! Planning on building one real soon too..
