New JVC GY-LS300, 4K S35 w/ micro 4/3 mount

JVC has a new 4K camera that has a Super 35 sensor with a micro 4/3 mount. I think it's still in a prototype phase.

I wish Sony would make a 4K VG series cam that would look exactly like this.

Is second that!

I suspect that a "VG900-type" camera must be in the works from Sony. They still have the A7s sensor being used in only that camera today. Sony almost ALWAYS uses it's sensors in multiple cameras. They almost never build sensors for one model only.

A new Sony 4K "VG-900-type" Handycam is certainly on the way. (and this JVC will need to compete with it to some extent)

I really don't understand the m43 lens mount as any of the nice Panasonic or Olympus m43 lenses won't cover the S35 sensor.

Which means you'll most likely have to use an adapter to go to Canon, Nikon, etc. or use some of the 3rd party lenses that have a m43 mount (& are made in a variety of mounts too).

JVC already has a relationship with Sony, so I would think they could strike up an agreement to use the e-mount. Then you can use the native ASP-C & full frame e-mount lenses that Sony has, plus any other lens w/ adapter.

I guess they wanted something more portable than E-mount. It's billed as a handheld 4K interchangeable lens palmcorder. 4K 60p is starting to emerge faster, but this is still a 30p limited camera like the AX100.

Simple - and Dylan Couper and I confirmed this with Craig Yanagi at NAB this year - M43 has a flange back distance that is universally adaptable to all the major lens mounts including PL.

Brilliant and daring on JVC's part.

Hey were you the JZ in the comments talking about how they should use the Nikon mount? :)

No, that's a different JZ. I don't recall typing that out.

Did JVC announce a release date for this camera? It sure seems llike they are taking their time on development.

Re: New JVC GY-LS300, 4K S35 w/ micro 4/3 mount

Based on a September 12 article at "Definition Magazine" (link to article) http://www.definitionmagazine.com/st...e_download.pdf it said early 2015 and for under €5,000.

Bring your own lens?

The local Northwest JVC rep said "They don't tell us anything."

It has a zoom rocker. Are there any 4/3 mount power zoom lenses?
