LAV MIC with HM170 or HM200

I have a Rode smartLav+ along with the TRRS to TRS adapter. When I plug it into the AUX connector on the back of my camera, I am not able to record any audio. When I plug the same mic into my Zoom H5 or Sony camcorder, the LAVC works perfectly.

I was told that the camera must be able to supply 1.5v to the LAV in order fir it to function. If that is true, does the HM170/200 supply the necessary power? Is this a configurable setting within the camera's menu system?

Its either that or I need to go our and buy a phantom powered LAV.

Since I may not check back here frequently enough, if anybody has a solid answer fir me, can you please send a message to andy@browneweb.com .

Re: LAV MIC with HM170 or HM200

I have a JVC HM200 and I can't get the aux in to work either. It will only record the audio from at a very low level from a lav mic (Audio-Technica ATR-3350). The same mic works with a Canon AX10 and Zoom H4N. I've tried other mics and nothing seems to work at this point. I feel like I've tried every setting combination.
Any help is appreciated?

I have an HM170 and had audio fed via the AUX jack on a shoot just this weekend. The only way I was able to make the feed work was to have the handle unit detached from the camera, then audio input was routed through AUX. Once in that configuration, input levels can be adjusted via the audio menu settings.

Mark,
Thanks for the reply. I tried taking the handle off, adjusting the input volume through the menu but it's still very soft. You may have heard me scream.
I'm in contact with JVC support but they don't know what's wrong at this point.
