GY-LS300 $1000 Instant Rebate extended to March 31, 2017
 

For those who are interested, JVC has again extended the $1000 instant rebate, now set to expire March 31, 2017.

Details at "GYLS300 rebate" on the JVC Pro US website. (According to my Canadian dealer, this offer also applies to Canadians through an authorized reseller.)

I'm guessing that "rebate" ain't going away, ever. Not enough interest in the camera for JVC to try and bump the price up back to "normal".

I'd guess you'll see it drop at least $200 more after the start of the new year....

Which, if true, is good news for folks like me that want to pick one up!

How much does the LS300 cost after the rebate in the US?

I'd buy a second LS300 if the price was right.
Sadly, as the pound is on it's arse I'll have to wait.

And slightly off topic (because I've never understood it) why do rebates exist at all?
We don't see them very often in the UK.

In Belgium there has not been any rebates at all, or offers with a free lens combines, I just checked and saw the price even went up, I paid about 2700 euro excl tax and some of our larger retailers have it at 3500 euro now.

@Noa I got mine from Germany for 2500euros. I did not have to pay VAT as I am VAT registered. So the price is not very far away from what you paid

Right now, it's going for about $2800 US.
