Uploading video onto Mac from HD3u

I'm trying to upload my videos from my camcorder to my iMac into iMovie '08, I'm using a playlist, firewire and video shot in 1440 CBR, however the only thing I see onscreen is a blue window and nothing imports? Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or the best way to transfer my videos including the ones not shot in 1440 CBR?

I suggest you get the guide...

I think it is really hard to understand exactly why you can't see your video. Personally, I don't use FW and stick to the USB and moving files - that is why I bought a HD camera instead of tape.

What I can tell you is that if you get Steve's guides you will be able to cover pretty much every single scenario out there, and it has been my experience that as I went through the workflow, he has been really keen in answering all my questions.

Sorry if I did not answer your question specifically, but I sincerely hope this helps!

Thank you. Getting FW input is a many -- way too many -- step process that has to be followed exactly. When I need to do it I need to follow my book because I can't remember the steps. Like Arian, I'm wondering why you are using FW.

I was under the impression FW was the easiest (fastest) way to do it, and a way without losing the video quality. Is using USB better? I will check out the guide in the meantime.

Make sure you put up a playlist and then when you go to import make the selection "dubbing playback" and it should work fine also make sure you also put the quicktime update dvd that came with your camera on your computer. It should work from there.
