SD Cards and GZ-7

I shoot weddings and I use the GZ-7s for cover shots. I use the hard drives now but id like to start shooting to SD cards (for conveniance sake) Does the quality of the card matter? Do I shoot straight to the card? How much video will I get on a 8 gig card?

Thanks
Randy

A remark or a reminder: on the GZ-HD7, the video recording on a SD card can only be done in SP mode (1440x1080i VBR 19mb/s average), neither in FHD (1920x1080i VBR 26,6mb/s average) nor in HDV compatible mode (1440x1080i CBR 27mb/s).

If you are fine with this limitation, you can record around 52 minutes on a 8GB card in SP mode.

Thats not a problem although can I shoot HDV compatable to the hard drive then copy it to the SD card within the camera?

Yes,
You can transfer in both sides (from HDD to SD , or from SD to HDD). See page 52 of your User Manual... ;)

I forget to say that, if you decide to transfer a FHD or a HDV compatible video from the HDD on the SD card, the max time is around only 37 minutes for a 8GB card (it's because the video rate is higher for these 2 recording modes).

I tried to record on SD card and quality was as good as Full HD, but I prefer to record video in HDD and snapshot in SD card! You may try 16GB/ 32GB card as well, those might will run!

I thought 4GB SDHC Class 6 was the max this DVC will do.
