DV Info Net - GR-HD1 observations

Okay, I went over to tonight and looked at a GR-HD1.
I first watched some home video he took in the house and outside when the sun had gone done. Looked pretty good. In one shot inside as he was panning around the guests, I noticed a person in the back who seemed to go fuzzy as he panned.

Another thing I noticed is the video of a person in the house with a white shirt one, and darker in the background. I could see the EE real back all around his shirt.

So, I then took the camera out to take some pictures. I was standing in the shade, taking pictures out into the sun. Sitting across in the sun as a ladder laying on its side, and a playhouse with colored panels for its roof.
I first took video in auto mode with a slow scan back and forth. We went in and looked at it on the HD monitor, and the ladder steps during the pan were all fuzzy. The playhouse top in the back were also. So I went back out and taped HD again in both 1/30 and 1/60. No improvement.

I then recorded the same three setups with DV in the camera. We then played back on the screen in 480p. (Used another converter box to drive his monitor.) The auto and 1/60 were perfect on the ladder. The 1/30 started to get fuzzy.

What does this all mean? What are others seeing. It seemed that if one had real limited motion, but from the scene and the camera on a tripod, it took great pictures. But, if one either moved or were taking pictures of moving stuff, the DV mode blew away the HD mode.

What have others seen. I was getting ready to buy the camera, even with the limited editing experience around, but after seeing this first hand, not sure its a step up from my Sony VX2000.
