It's almost done! HDV Guides and R-T FCP editing
 

By this time next week my 4HDV package will be shipping.

It includes:

1. HD1/HD10 Shooting Guide

2. OS X HDV Production Guide

3. Two OS X software plug-ins: HDVbridge and HDVviaduct

While the Production Guide covers real-time editing HDV using FCP -- the Shooting Guide includes a chapter that covers both Mac and PC software options.

So those that pre-ordered (thank you) should watch for email just before Labor Day.

Do you have any plans to offer a version aimed at PC users? I’d definitely be interested in the Shooting Guide and a Production Guide that would be slanted toward the provided software and any other software options that are or will be available for PC users.

I also would be interested in a PC-based guide.

I am thinking about it. But, at this point it seems the simplest PC solution is contained in one product -- Aspect HD. So unless their documentation is terrible -- there will not be much need from anything from me.

I don't have the KDD solution. Anyone willing to loan me a copy? Maybe all it needs is some good documentation.

I have covered some -- but not all -- of the PC solutions in my Shooting Guide, Chapter 8.

In your 4HDV page you talk about the new low cost D-VHS HD MPEG-2 encoder. The only thing I could find on their site is MPEG power pro DTV-HD witch sells for 4785$ US (of course not at all cheap!). Can you give me the link on this encoder you mentionned?

Heuris has not posted info for their new $600 product. But it is coming soon.

But 600$ still isn't cheap. It sure is worth it if you plan to edit the HD10 footage...

Steve, your package sounds very interesting. Could you possibly post a short summary of the workflow to edit in FCP using your system for people?, and outline how the utilities will be used. I'm a bit confused as to how it will all work.

One ONLY needs the Heuris plug-in for recording back to videotape. Hopefully, Heuris is taking this extra time to support recording to the camcorders!


Paul, have you ever been able to record output from Womble? Doesn't work for me?
