D-VHS recorder for the HD10 ?

Dear all,

I am going to buy a HD10 camera and
was wondering what kind of D-VHS deck I should get. JVC site offers two (affordable)
models, the SR-VD400U (professional model) and the HM-DH40000 (consumer
range). What's the difference between those two recorders, is it worth buying
the more expensive model ?

Thanks for your help !

I'd recommend the 40000 because it's cheaper.

Also, take a look at the two side by side and determine for yourself what's a better deal, ultimately. And let us know what you think!

The only diference that I saw from a demo by a JVC rep was that the pro allows for encryption of the tapes. This includes down to what specific (by serial number!) deck is allowed to play back a tape. This protection of data is the reason that Hollywood is attracted to the decks for dailies.

The other thing is pro connections. Component in and out instead of just composite RCA, that kind of thing.

If your doing any work transfering tapes between other people, get the pro deck so you have the best compatibility with other people.

Good luck and let us know what you do!

Thanks a lot for your replies. I think I will
go for the pro deck, as there is not much
difference in price between the two
recorders. Can anyone of you recommend
a shop where I can buy one. BTW: I live
in Austria, Europe. So I would need a
place that accepts international orders.
