GR-HD1 discontinued?

Today I happened to be purchasing a new fridge at PC Richard & Son, a NY metro area electronics and appliance chain, and asked the salesman if he had any HD1's in stock. The interesting thing was when he pulled up his green screen, the info from the manufacturer said the unit was discontinued as of 2/2004! Say it ain't so! I also had him check on the HD10, but the 10 wasn't listed as a product offering. No further information about a replacement product was available, either.

I don't know how reliable this info is, but the chain does have about 50 stores. This might be grim news, but on the other hand, it could be foreshadowing of a version 2.0 consumer unit coming out..

I recently got a good closeout deal on a Samsung SIR-T165 HDTV tuner at Best Buy. It seems Best Buy was discontinuing it as a stock item, but it was NOT discontinued by Samsung. Maybe that's the case!

We'll keep that in the rumor pile for now.

But, I must say, the first JVC D-VHS deck that was big last year went on clearance in January as the new one came out.

For more info, Visit JVC's site, and click on Consumer.

I visited the site quick and saw the old D-VHS model is gone, but the new one, the 40k, is there. And the HD1 is still listed!

Let's hope the HD10U gets discontinued so I can find one at Best Buy for under $2'000 ;)

Neither Camera is Discontinued. Both are very alive and very well.

Perhaps the rep meant that the store was no longer carrying the product.
