change to the f value, no change to the exposure.
 

my hd10 seems to have some problem of exposure control, in the aperture priority mode, no matter what the aperture value is , the exporsure is the same!. it seems the f value is constant at f2, i tried some other f values like f5 f10 f22,they get me the same exposure as f2. i get overexposure whenever i shoot outdoor, any one knows whats going on? thanks

Are you sure the feature is called that? I couldn't find anything
in the online manual.

Perhaps it works the otherway around? Ie, it controls the
aperture itself and lets you control the other things like shutter
speed?

It's tricky doing that stuff; you set the F stop, then go to the shutter, and it changes the F stop. You have to keep one of the two on screen (ie, don't get out of the iris/shutter settings in the menu) for it not to change.

It sucks, but you can "defeat it" that way, or with an ND filter (and polarizer).

are you saying it is not a malfunction and the hd10 works that way? my problem is whatever value i set the F stop, the same amount of lights go into the camera, like i shoot using f2.0 at noon outside, it surely gets overexposure, but even i change to f8, it still gives me the same exposure.

Hmm, that is interesting. No, my HD10 doesn't do that. Have you tried calling JVC's tech support? I always recommend calling if it's a definite malfunction within the camera. That sounds like something is wrong!

From my observation, the way Diu describes it is the way it works on my GR-HD1 also. You can select the aperture, or the shutter speed, but the only way to control the exposure is with the exposure over ride, which defeats aperture-shutter priority modes.
