Shopping for a GR-HD1

I am currently shopping for a GR-HD1 and have found some confusing prices.

The lowest price I can find at a retailer is $1399, which almost seems too low.

Then on Amazon there are several sellers that have them "brand new in the box" from $780 all the way down to $400. These seem really fishy, but if I could go through Amazon I would be protected.

What do you guys think? Are all these deals a hoax? What is the average price for a new in the box unit as of 03-14-05?

BH has it for $1999. Same with BuyDig.com.

Wherever you shop, check http://www.resellerratings.com/ first.

Thanks for the advice.

I found the best price using this site.

http://www.digitalsaver.com/stores.asp?productid=GRHD1

Right now A&M Photo World has it for $1,279. And digisaver makes it look like they have a good rating, but the rating must be false because when I checked http://www.resellerratings.com A&M had a horrible rating.

DigitalSaver is nothing more than a front for these shady companies to sell their crap; A&M Photo World, Broadway Photo, Digital Liquidators, etc. are all basically the same company, avoid them like the plague. The camera is likely to have parts missing, be a foreign model, etc., and they will call you upon ordering and force you buy other products to get their price. If you don't, the unit will magically be out of stock. It isn't a coincedence these stores have all but been banned from most shopping search engines.

The only site I trust is pricegrabber, if a vendor has a a lot of good ratings on there you can trust it, and they aren't TOO hard on vendors (resellerratings is good too, but they are VERY hard on vendors).
