What's the trick to capturing via firewire to your PC, i don't know what i'm doing wrong...is there software that was supposed to come with the unit???

Martin,

There isn't any digitizing software that comes with the deck. You can capture m2t using a program called CapDVHS. It's free and you can google for a link. What are you using for your editing program?

You should be able to capture directly into Avid Liquid all frame rates from JVC ProHD line of cameras. However, the Cu-vh1 has been listed by several NLE manufacturers as not completely compatible for digitizing/digitalcut. Unfortunately this is an older deck that JVC no longer manufactures. You may have better luck capturing from a JVC HDV camera.

Other digitizing sofware: HDVsplit, and if you're using Ppro and Liquid, you might invest in Cineform NEO at $249. Try CapDVHS and then import m2t into your editing program.

Good Luck
