Shooting Modes and shutter speed

I'm wondering what are the advantages of shooting in HDV-HD25p 50/25 in 16:9 over hdv-hd60p 60/30 16:9? Is the first one better if editing in NTSC? Also which shutter speed is recommended while shooting 24p in HDV or DV? All suggestions and support is much appreciated

25/50 are useful if you are shooting for a PAL territory, or to avoid flicker from lights in areas that use a 50 Hz mains power supply. Otherwise shoot 24 or 30/60. The only other way it is useful is it makes the maths simpler - "I shot 200 frames -oh yeah, its 8 seconds"
