Stock footage of Melbourne Australia

Hi, Can anyone let me know where i may be able to obtain some stock footage of Melbourne? I thought it may be easier and cheaper than actually hopping on a plane with my own camera. if anyone can help it would be great.

I found this link...

You might also consider calling the Melbourne film office. I've always found them very helpful.

Thanks Theodore. There's not much choice there with those shots and I was hoping for at least 16.9 footage. I will try the other link you gave me.

Hi Dennis.

Are you only looking for some iconic footage (city skyline, Arts Centre spire, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Flinders Street Station, etc.)?

All I've got on my drives (16:9 footage) are shots of the National Tennis Centre (where they hold the Australian Open), the Supreme Court building and the International Airport (Tullamarine). But there's no particular signage in any of these shots that say, "Hey, this is Melbourne!"

Hi David,
Thanks for your help. I am only after some iconic footage of Melbourne but not knowing my way around there i dont really know what shots I need to say "this is Melbourne". I wasnt thinking of signage but views of the city that people would recognize. I would love an aerial shot over the city etc and I dont expect it for free. I was hoping someone there had some footage available that they have taken lately. I have vision of Perth i.e. if anyone over there needs some without having to get on a plane.

Melbourne

Hi Dennis,

I'm from Melbourne and if you could wait a month I could shoot some stuff for you for free on my 251 and send it up to you. You will have to wait at least a month though as I'm shooting stuff at the moment and traveling.

If you can't wait though, I would suggest ringing Film Victoria, Victorian Tourism to get what you need. I know for a fact that they have heaps of FREE Melbourne visuals to help promote the city in HD, Beta, and even some 16mm and 35mm that they use for archivals.

You could also contact VCA and see if one of the film students could duck down the street (they are in the city) and shoot a few things for you.

The shots you'll need to show that it is melbourne are:

Federation Square
Multi Bridge
Flinders Street Station
Observation Deck
Russel Street Station
Luna Park
South Bank (Crown Casino).
The Arts center tower

All these places are very much Melbourne icons that will easily be recognised. Hope this helps. Email me direct if you like on mattnorman@theactorscafe.com if you need anything else. I'm happy to help
