Just ordered a set. You only get 4 presets per card, not matter what size, but this is the cheapest price per card I've seen. It's a great time-saver, and can help with consistent reliable returns to settings having sets of custom presets available. At this price and this size it makes sense to start developing a library of settings you can load up quickly, rather than individually tweaking settings for setups you return to again and again.

right you are Sean about the library.
we're using those 8 or 16 or 64 MB SD cards you get free each time you have a new phone or consumer camera. no use for anything else but for JVC scene files !

BTW we've established separate SD cards by frame rates, with the same Dashwood and Ciccione files on them, so you don't have to call up so many menu items each time.

For each film we then use new cards with specific adaptations of these files.
Next tuesday we'll try something between bleach bypass and superwide for an upcoming short - goes on a separate card.

only tricky thing: proper labelling, easily legible in stress. found no stick-on labels for SD so far.

It this a reputable brand?

Sean Adair January 31st, 2008 05:46 PM

Brian, I don't know the brand, but honestly I'm not worried either. This is about as a low stress usage as you could find. The speed is unimportant. If it works, it should keep working for a long time, and if it doesn't work for this it's likely to be useless for anything. I suspect that like many electronics, many of these are made by one company and then sold under multiple brand names.
