HD250 LoLux?

I just talked to my supplier who sold me my HD200. He says they just got in a new HD250 with LoLux capability. Apparently this makes it more sensitive to low light situatuions. I don't see any info on the JVC website.
Is this the rumored upgrade we've been hearing about since last summer?

As soon as I can, I'll go over and check it out.

Hi Glen, I was interested in LoLux as well. I did find out a bit more about it. It is being offered only to broadcast companies and other special markets currently. It is simply firmware which allows setting a very high gain. It isn't a panacea for the limited lo-light capabilities of the cameras. In use it will add quite a bit of grain and noise. In some situations of course, capturing an image at any cost is important. However, a "filmmaker" would probably never want to use this mode.

Because we've heard of it, it's tempting to just want to have the option. However, I can understand JVC is reluctant to simply release it as a standard firmware upgrade. There will be people who complain about how ugly that footage is, or post clips that look terrible. People might use it unwittingly or forget the setting and blame the camera.

My JVC GY-DV500 had a lo-lux button, which could literally see in the dark. Very noisy and grainy, and the button could be triggered by accident if you weren't familiar with the camera and fumbling for a different thing. That camera was also tremendous in low-light even without gain though.
