Completely dead GY HD100U

My GY HD100U is completely dead on both battery and power adaptor. Any suggestions?

Yeah - get it to a JVC service center. You've probably got a bad fuse in there. I understand that they are not user serviceable.

Any ideal how much this will cost?

Hi David.

You just plugged it into the AC adaptor before it died, by any chance? If so, check the AC socket on the camera, see if the little yellow insulating ring on the end of the AC power cable snapped off inside there.

Happened to me. I had to take the camera apart to get it out. I can help you with JVC service docs etc and advice if this is the problem.

This is the thread on my fix of the problem, if it is the AC cable. I thought my problem was as a result of the firmware upgrade - hence the title of the thread. But if you work through, you'll see that I found it was a hardware issue, and I describe the fix. Let me know if you need any more info on this.

Just checked again, no such luck.

Its a fuse. have it opened by a qualified technician.

David Allen Smith May 28th, 2008 03:05 PM

Thanks for the input. $98 dollars later the fuse has been replaced and I am back in service.
