Difference between HD100 and HD101?

I'm sorry if this has been addressed before. I did a search on this forum, but couldn't find it.

What, if any, are the differences between the GY-HD100, the GY-HD100(a) and the GY-HD101?
I'm guessing they're fairly minimal. I know the HD100(a) is a firmware upgrade from the HD100. How about the HD101?

The GY-HD101 is a PAL camera.

Both can do PAL if it has an 'e' and the end.
The 101e can record a Firewire stream, the 100e cannot.
As there are different Tax levels for this in the European union.

So, if Windows XP is reporting my firewire-connected camera as an HD101, that means that I can record to HDV tape over firewire?

Unless you bought it in europe and there is an e on the end of the model number, it will record just fine.

No, it seems that HD 101 (USA) doesn`t record HDV signal from computer back to tape (camera) via firewire. HD 100 does it.

101 is not a USA cam, thats the 110 which does record.

not being able to record over firewire is a non-usa model feature for vat/taxing purposes.
