Camera Hours
Hey guys im hoping i can get some help here. Im looking into buying a JVC GY-HD100U from a friend. He says the camera has 250 hours on it as a deck, and i dont remember how many shooting hours he said it had. Not that many i remember that much. 250 hrs sounds like a lot to me.
Is it worth buying? Is it even a decent camera? I come from a film background, so digital is new to me. Hope someone can help. Thanks Jim |
250hrs is pretty light use. Heads are rated for about 2000hrs, check at 1000hrs.

My hd110u is almost at 500hrs and works fine. Just had one issue, due to clogged head from sony tapes. Head cleaner fixed that problem over 70hrs ago.

Awesome! thank you guys so much!

As well, there are Fan Hours (how long the camera has been turned ON) and Tape Run Hours (how long the camera has been used to transport tape - typically a much more telling number.) This is where the majority of the "wear and tear" comes from. And 250 hours isn't much.

Well, up to a point, fan hours are just how long the camera has been switched on. The head hours would be counting the time the tape transport and head had been in use. The fan hours appear to leap up whenever i switch mine on, my guess is that the reading is not that accurate.
250 hours really isn't that much but I would think of it as general camera head use. |
Are 353 fan hours bad?
|
353 fan hours for 250 head hours seems just about right, if not just a hair low.
