Hello Jason looks to me like its a lease buy scheme and the camera has been rigged out for media use.

Hi,

I was wondering if it had the SxS card add on. Speaking of that, do you know how the SxS card attachment works with the 200u and if it is possible to record a higher bit rate than 19 with it?

Sorry Ive not got a clue.

It probably does include the KA-MR100G SxS recorder and that's what they mean by "hybrid." The KA-MR100G can be used on a 200B or 250 with a slim adapter called a KA-UM100G. The KA-UM100G basically converts 6-pin firewire external input (from the camera via a short firewire cable) into the internal proprietary connection of the KA-MR100G.
The would all be permanently attached to the HD200B between the camera and battery mount.

The bit rate for a KA-MR100G connected to a HD200 series camera would be maxed out at 19.2Mbps for 720p and 25Mbps for 1080i. This is because the HD200B is doing the encoding and the KA-UM100G/MR100G are just wrapping the mpeg2 stream in MP4 and recording the files to SxS media.

Thank you Tim and Alan. I appreciate the information.

Too bad there isn't a way to bypass the firewire. I'd love to get the 35Mbps ofthe 700 without having to buy a whole new camera. Ahh well, I guess I'll just have to live with HDV for a while longer:(
