Bag for the GY-HD111
 

Hi.
I am looking to purchase a bag for my HD111, actually for both my HD111s. I need the bag to be big enough for my camera complete with the sony microphone ECM-674/ Sennheiser MKH-416, mattebox and V- lock battery attached. It must also be able to accomodate a charger, headphones and accessories. I do not have a mattebox yet, but looking to buy one.

I have been looking at the Kata Bag CC196, CC197 and the Petrol bag PCUBHD.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for either?

Doeas anyone have any other recommendations? What sort of bags are you guys using?

I also needed a case for my HD110 and found most were very expensive. I bought a Vaultz locking tool box, it's a black and chrome hard case for $55. I lined it with foam and it works very well. The basic camera just fits in it and is well protected. I will use this for airline carry on. I have a large Pelican case for all my camera accessories that I check in. I have attached a pic.

I'm using a KATA CC-197 with my HD200U and love it. I'm looking at buying a CC-195 for my "B-camera" HD200U that doesn't have as much with the kit.

Me too using the Kata CC-197 with my HD251E and could not be happier.

Thanks for all the input. Does either of you have any pictures of the bag with the camera in place? Will I be able to fit the camera with a mattebox attached?

Tom, that tool box looks interesting. I guess that saves the camera from a lot of abuse.

My HD200U with batteries and chargers and AA batteries for wireless and Sennheiser ME66 shotgun ahead of camera (with no battery mounted while in the bag) fits really well.

After seeing the picture and all the replies from you guys I have decided on the CC 197.
It looks like a good bag, with lots of storage room. And when you lot are happy I know will be too. The best feedback one can get is from someone who actually uses the equipment.

I have the large bag from 16x9:
16x9 Inc. :: Grab & Shoot Bag - Large

It is long and easy to get in and out of. It will hold the camera with battery and matte box.

However, the Kata might have more protection for banging around. I bought the 16x9 because of price, but it seems to have gone up since I got it.

I am thinking about the Kata OMB77, I think they are a new range - they show examples with the GY200 + mattebox etc. The OMB77 also includes the insertrolley so It can be wheeled too which is a plus.

I currently use a Camrade CB single II - which is the one also available with JVC branding. I put way too much stuff in it.

Svein Rune: No problem at all. Glad to help. I agonized over my bag myself and got great advice. Even the shoulder strap is comfortable, all things considered... (I too carry TOO MUCH stuff in my bag...)
