GY-HD250 with old HDV rack

I'm running a windows xp laptop with the DV rack with HDV power pack. Works fine with my JVC HD100.

I rented two HD 250s this weekend. DV Rack is not seeing either camera. The laptop has no problem seeing my HD 100. My desktop pc with Adobe PPro CS3 can see the 250s.

So it seems like the firewire ports on the cameras and the laptop work fine. The IEEE394 output is set to HDV, which is what it's recording.

So I'm guessing my old HDV rack needs something to see the JVC 250? It's version 1.1.1452.0 HD.

Update: I got Adobe OnLocation CS3 on to the laptop. However, still not seeing the JVC.

I see there is a drop down menu for 'Devices', the JVC is not listed there.
I'd like to move this to the adobe forum now that it is using OnLocation.

Did you check the DV/HDV Firewire switch?
As it does work here with my HD-251e

Yes, I checked that, but I've found the answer (or an answer).

I was using the device that stops the firewire from sending power, so I don't blow the firewire port (sorry, forgetting the proper name).

When I took that out of the mix, and carefully reattached the firewire cord and powered it all back, OnLocation saw the camera. BUT- the DVR function is grayed out. Don't know why. It's not a trial version.
