TAPE STOCK PREFERENCES for HD-100
I heard we should stay consistent with tapes- use one and keep using it.
But which one? I heard JVC, since the camera is JVC. I heard BASF. What about this new Sony tape- the PHDVM63DM, anyone use that yet? All opinions welcomed! T. Patrick Murray MicroCinema www.TheLastGame.com |
I'd stick with the JVC Pro stock (ME) or Panasonic (MQ.)
I stay away from Sony stock on non-Sony cameras because of their proprietary lubricants. Tim |
Keep JVC tape in a JVC camera. Their prices seem to be the most reasonable on the market anyway.
good luck. |
Yeah-- but where can you get the tape?
Checking on the web-- I found some in Australia. Anyone find some in US?
Thanks, Steve |
JVC doesn't really make tape right? I think they just re-brand somebody else<#s tape. Just like I heard Pansonic tape is just re-branded Fuji tape.

I had heard/read that as well. Let's put it this way, don't mix Sony tape with anything else. You can buy a block of JVC's for really cheap (and try it out) or you can get the ProHD tape.
|
Yeah, I heard there's Sony, Fuji and somebody else, which I forgot. So I wonder if the JVC ProHD tapes are actually Sony HDV tapes.
|
As I say from the beginning, get JVC tapes for your JVC player. Don't take chances with the head getting contaminated by mxing tapes.
