Film Look For HD100
 

I just got my camera today and I have been playing around with a bit, but everything i am seeing still looks like video. Any suggestions to make it more "Film Like"? Any filters etc?

Maybe some settings.

I have it set at 24f and Cinelike, Master Black at -3.

So far I have not seen the SSE problem but I haven't shot anything at night yet in low light.

Try some of these and see how they work for you. Promist (black or white) filters diffuse as well as help video respond to highlights a more filmlike way. I also sometimes use Tiffen soft contrast for a more subtle look. They are hard to find though.

Congratulations Duke, wise choice to get the JVC!

I suggest you purchase "Magic Bullet" if you want to give your footage a "film look"...it makes a big diffrence. Shoot as flat as possible and then add filters in post, works best for me.

JVC + M2 + Nikon + Magic Bullet = Digital 35mm FILM. Better yet ofcourse to use PL mount and cineprimes!

Im working on a "The Machinist" look with MB but I just cant find the right settings yet!

Tim, I know that you are working with MB as well, have you been successful in duplicating either a "Se7en" or "The Machinist" look?

You can get Magic Bullet for editors if you don't mind using presets (that can be modified a little). It's a lot cheaper than the full package. If you pruchase Vegas + DVD you get a version of Magic Bullet included. I think they still do that.

You are correct Joe, but when using MBE for Premiere you can modify the presets just as much as the full package!

What is M2?. I am getting my Mini35 next week, but I would like to get some lenses that are reasonable. I am willing to spend between $1000-4000 for some good lenses. Anyone can recommend any?

I'm looking at Magic Bullet right now. Looks cool. Will try it out.
