Some questions for fellow HD100E/HD101E users

Did your HD100 come with a Warranty card? Mine did not, and I heard European models don't come with one. Only U.S. models. So I guess in Europe all you need is your bill of sale/invoice for the warranty. But I just want to make sure that's right. I don't want to find out I need a warranty card when I need warranty service.
Also, when you play HDV24p back to your normal PAL TV using composite, does it play black and white? Mine does. But HDV25p plays in color. I haven't test HDV30p yet.
Thanks.

My guess is that you're seeing back and white because the output is set to "component", rather than "auto" or "composite".

Is HDV 24P outputting NTSC?

Just how is HDV 24P converted to 50i in real time anyway?

Have you tried manually selecting composite? My guess is the camera assumes component in 24P mode.

Or it could just be a straight sync issue with PAL TV and 24 FPS ...

I will run tests now and get back to you.

I had a JVC engineer in here this morning fixing the PAL SD timecode problem (see other thread) and he has confirmed that 24P downconverted in composite is output in NTSC, hence the black and white on your monitor.

Should work fine on a dual standard monitor.

No idea. Somehow it is. Apparently to NTSC according to John.

Thanks John. Did you test it yourself too?
I'm also assuming HDV30p will do the same then.
By the way, what about the warranty card guys?

Michael - I tried it on a cheap Digitor and my more expensive Sony (not my production monitor - a domestic 68cm model). Both played back 24P in colour. So that didn't really tell me anything because both these TV's are multisync models. So I hooked it up to my DVDO iScan and when I selected the correct input and info, the iScan reported it as NTSC @ 59.94.

So conclusively it is outputting 24P as NTSC in composite.

However 90% of the PAL units sold these days are compatible with NTSC. The 38cm Digitor I spoke of cost me less than $AU200, features a component input at rear and front A/V inputs. It comes in 51cm and 68cm models for not much more. Hope this info helps.

Don't recall seeing a warranty card, but then I have a receipt and I've already had my camera replaced under warranty.
