HD100 Firmware

Just a suggestion; I found it hard, time-consuming and inconclusive to search the forum to check the latest firmware version. How about a sticky that would be updated only when a new firmware is released? ...and no other discussion would happen there. I think that it would be helpful for current owners as well as potential buyers.

A detailed guide on how to check it would be nice too. I tried the one posted here somewhere but didn't get anywhere.

Hi Jiri,

It is a good suggestion, but the catch-22 is that we would prefer not to let the key-combo for the ADVANCED MENU loose unless JVC were to officially announce it themselves. Many of us have been shown how to access the ADVANCED MENU by our local JVC technicians in order to check the firmware version or clone some bad pixels, and that is as good as it is going to get for now.
I know the ADVANCED MENU seems harmless at first sight, but JVC has warned me that executing the PIXEL COMPEN function too many times, or when the camera is not fully warmed up, may really screw up the pixel clone map - potentially requiring a memory wipe that may not be covered under your warranty. Since there is no publicly available instruction manual for the functions in the menu, the safe thing to do is forget it exists unless you absolutely need it.

With that said, I have been keeping my own tally on what the most up-to-date firmware versions are. It seems that 1.17 is the most up-to-date for U.S./U.K. released models, and 1.14 in Canada (but they should be receiving new software with the latest firmware soon.)
I have also received reports of v1.2 in U.K., but I couldn't get it confirmed so that report may have been misrepresented by a local dealer.

I will definitely start a sticky announcement if JVC releases a new firmware update that we will either need a service technician to install or can be user installed.
