anamorphic converter for HD 100U to 2.35.1"

Hey, Do any of you know whether or not there is a anamorphic converter for HD100U to take 16.9 to 2.35.1? I know there is one for canon. See http://opd.usa.canon.com/html/indust...041204_1.shtml

Will it work with my HD100U and Mini35? Would love to shoot everything in 2.35.1. Any other options besides doing it in post?

thanks

Brian:

Since you are effectively talking about the 35mm world, another option is to use 35mm anamorphic lenses to deliver the widescreen aspect ratio. Be aware that these will have a 2x squeeze applied, thus your final unsqueezed ratio will actually be closer to 3.5 than 2.35 (i.e., 1.78x 2) as 35mm anamorphics are designed to be used with an Academy frame, which is closer to 1.33.

The great thing with using cine anamorphic lenses is that you get all of the fun artifacts of that medium, such as the interesting distortions when you rack focus (background highlights show up as ovals) plus the horizontal flaring, etc.

Thanks Charles.

What exactly are the lenses called and where do I buy or rent them? My goal is too eventaully or ASAP shoot only 2.35.1. Always LOVE that look. Will they fit on my Mini35?

So if I shoot with an anamorphic lens I will get a distorted image that has to be squeezed in post to make true 2.35.1?

I also sent you an email to find out about your reference to modifying my Mini35 to power on a Anton battery.

Duke
