DV 1/24 vs.1/48 shutter

I am shooting a project in DV mode and I was surprised to see that the default shutter speed for DV 24p is 1/24. I understand and the manual confirms that the shutter speed for 24p HDV is 1/48, which represents a film-type shutter, so why is it different in DV? What should be used for a typical film-feel DV?

It's not different. Just because it's default setting is 1/24 doesn't mean you want to use that shutter speed. You want to set it at 1/48 regardless of whether or not its DV or HDV. I set both my XL2 and DVX at 1/48. If Im not mistaken I think the DVX actually defaults at 1/48. I think the default setting in you camera for DV is nothing more than a programming oversight.
